Hot Tubs Can Ease Backache

Although much research has been done, nobody is completely sure what percentage of the population in the UK suffers from bad backs. According to the NHS, “most people” suffer from backache at some point in their lives (for more details see information on back pain from the NHS here.)

Genetic disposition, poor posture, lack of exercise, a sedentary lifestyle, strains placed on the spine through overweight have all been identified as causes in what now amounts to something of a pain epidemic. And those who suffer from bad backs experience pain that can be excruciating, affecting both their work and personal lives.

Speaking from my own experience, my family all suffer from bad backs. My own back was injured some twenty years ago, when I mistakenly jogged through a patch of soft sand on a beach in Scotland. Since then my back has been prone to injury, and the very first time I ever experienced the benefit of a high quality tub was in Scotland working in a HotSpring showroom. At that time my back was so bad that I could hardly stand up straight. Someone in the showroom suggested I try the Envoy tub. I have to admit that I was somewhat sceptical, having previously spent roughly six weeks previously incapacitated with sciatica, I doubted that bubbling water would do me any good. Nevertheless, the pain was so intense, and my need for mobility so great, I reluctantly clambered in and sat in the lounger, with the patented MototMassage™ jet on my back, as well as jets aimed at my feet, neck and shoulders.

I was also sceptical because previously I had spent time inside a commercial tub in my gym. The jets were small and some of them fired water at my back, but many blew nothing more than cold bubbles; although I found the warm water in itself soothing, the jets weren’t effective in alleviating pain in my back.

Within a few minutes, I was to learn the difference between jets. The MotoMassage™ provided a completely different experience from my gym hot tub. Its powerful sweeping motion quite literally swept the tension out of my back. I didn’t even move around the tub, and spent only fifteen minutes or so in the seat but when I got out, my backache had almost completely gone! I was able to stand up straight and move about easily. I was amazed – and I was a convert.

Having a curious disposition, I wanted to know what made the jets inside a HotSpring so much better than those in my gym tub. I learnt that cold air jets in my gym model provided a lot of drama, but no actual hydromassage. In addition, the large size holes in HotSpring’s jets allowed for a plentiful supply of both warm air and water, which proved powerful but comfortable on my skin. Lastly, my ability to customize every jet to achieve the massage my back required proved the perfect combination for me.

I had learnt a basic but fundamental truth: quality jets give quality massage.
